TELEPHONE ORDERS 480 345 2457 MONDAY THRU SATURDAY Genuine Apache Native American Indian Artifact Cradle Board
total length 33" one-of-a-kind This Genuine Apache Cradle Board is a beautiful and colorful hand-made Native American artifact from the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation. This one was made in the Apache tradition starting with a single curved hoop hand-made from a wood sapling. Flat slats of light-weight wood are then laid across the hoop creating the backboard. The head cover is made form intricately woven cottonwood branches that create a large arch for protection from the sun. This cradle board was then covered in red cotton and intricate hand-made seed bead work for a vibrant and traditional Native American look. This cradle board was made by Apache father, Dempsey Bylas, Jr. He made this one by hand to carry his own daughter. That was some time ago; she has since outgrown it. He still wasn't going to sell this amazing piece though, instead saving it to give to the next expecting parents to come along. Unfortunately, he became ill and the hospital bills were too much to handle so he sold this amazing cradle board to help cover the expenses. We are proud to offer this rare, one-of-a-kind cradle board to you. We understand the true value and nature of hand-crafted Indian art. We recognize it is important to know that the artist is truly a member of a Native American tribe. To ensure you that this is authentic, a Certificate of Authenticity has been included with this item. CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC |
