Mata Ortiz Polychrome Hand-Coiled pottery is made from natural clay extracted from the land surrounding the pueblo of Mata Ortiz in the Casa Grandes Valley of Chihuahua, Mexico. The pots are hand-built without the use of a potter’s wheel using local materials and tools. Each family produces its own unique and distinctive ware incorporating contemporary decoration and design with ancient pottery traditions of the region.
