Lenght of belt: 43" (adjustable Conchos 2 1/2" x 1 5/8" Stamped hand-made Signed by the artist, Joey McCray This Hand-Made Traditional Navajo Indian Genuine Kingman Turquoise Silver Link Concho Adjustable Belt is great and the perfect complement to any outfit to complete that southwest look! A Navajo made, nickel silver concho belt, this is the classic look of the Southwest. The polished conchos shimmer and shine and they were each hand-cut from nickel Silver for a high shine that won't tarnish. Each of the fifteen Conchos are hand-stamped and die-struck and are linked together for an adjustable length (including the hand-made chain extension). The traditional designs are hand-stamped and each of the links is hand- made and adorned with a genuine green Kingman Turquoise cabochon for a great Santa Fe look. This concho belt can be finished for either a Santa Fe look (satin finish) a high shine for a more contemporary look at no cost to you. Concho belts are one of the most striking articles of Indian jewelry. The medallions or plates of silver vary in number according to size. The older type had holes in the center, separated by a bar, through which was passed the strap forming the belt. The first belts were made only of conchas, with leather thongs used for fastening. Later a silver harness buckle was used, then slides of soft copper were used to attach and slide the conchos on belts and finally elaborate buckles replaced the leather thongs and simple buckles. The use of turquoise and other adornment on conchos dates back to before the 1920s. The variety of sizes, materials and quality of silversmithing and lapidary masterpieces, with every piece being hand wrought and crafted. We understand the true value and nature of hand crafted Indian art. We recognize it's important to know that the artist is truly a member of a Native American tribe.
