A man-made object is an ‘artifact.’ Every artifact, whether beautiful, ugly, crude, refined, utilitarian or ceremonial, reflects the product of man's skill, technique and artistic flair. Artifacts reflect ideas, concepts, and the knowledge acquired or learned as a member of the tribe. Particular tribes use certain techniques, and create a particular style because of their tradition. |
